RI's economy paced up 6.3 percent in second quarter
(08/16/2007) JAKARTA Indonesia's economy grew by 6.3 percent in 2007's second quarter from a year ago, being driven by stronger exports, investment and consumption, the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported Wednesday.
(On a quarterly basis, the economy expanded by 2.4 percent to reach a gross domestic product (GDP) of Rp 962.5 trillion (US$106.9 billion), as government spending paced up from the first quarter in providing a boost.The latest GDP growth figures from BPS also translate to Indonesia's economy having expanded by 6.1 percent until the first half of this year.The government had estimated a 6.1 percent on-year growth for 2007's second quarter, and is expecting 6.3 percent for the full-year.
