Carrefour wins appeal verdict against monopoly |

Retailer Carrefour Indonesia won an appeal verdict on Wednesday against
a previous monopoly ruling on its acquisition of supermarket PT Alfa
Retailindo.
The Business Competition Supervisory Commission (KPPU) in November found Carrefour guilty of monopoly for acquiring Alfa. KPPU ordered Carrefour to sell its stakes at Alfa.
"KPPU is wrong about Carrefour dominant position," presiding judge Kusno said. "Three surveys clearly said that Carrefour does not monopolize the market."
Carrefour bought Alfa in 2008 for Rp 675 billion (US$71 million).(JP/IP)
