KPK yet to find solid evidence in Bank Century case |

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) says that it has yet to
find sufficient evidence that would otherwise allow it to launch a
formal investigation into alleged graft in the bailout of Bank Century.
"As of now, we have questioned 14 officials from Bank Indonesia, seven from the Deposit Insurance Agency, 13 from Bank Century and two from the Finance Ministry. We also have collected all related documents, including tape recordings and transcripts. We are still digging deeper into the data and we have yet to reach any solid conclusion," KPK deputy chairman Chandra M. Hamzah told a hearing with the House of Representatives’ Commission III overseeing legal affairs on Monday.
"According to the KPK Law, we need to secure at least gather two solid proofs to start an investigation. That's why our examination process could take a while to be completed," he added.
The Bank Century case revolves a bailout that ballooned ten times to Rp 6.76 trillion (US$730.08 million) from its original estimate.
The House has formed a special committee of inquiry into the controversial bailout.(JP/IP)
