(10/05/2007) JAKARTA - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono was expected to immediately prepare a presidential decree on the appointment of seven members of the General Election Commission (KPU) approved by the House`s Commission II to enable them following appointment by the President and installed by the KPU to start working and making preparatiosn for the general and presidential elections.
Yasonna Laoly, a member of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) faction, told a press conference along with Chairman of the House`s Special Committee for the Bill on Political Parties Ganjar Pranowo at parliament building here on Thursday evening. Yasonna hoped that the new KPU members would make better preparations for the 2009 general election, so that the general elections will also be realized in a better way. Touching on PDIP`s preparations for the next general elections, he said the party had proposed an open limited general election system. In this context, the closeness of the voters to their prospective legislators will be very decisive to their election.
