(09/27/2007) MEDAN - Executive Director of the Public Empowerment and Enhancement Agency (LAMPIK) Major General Simanungkalit said most private television programs during the current fasting month of Ramadhan were polluted with misleading missions, so Muslims should be careful and not be trapped.
"Only a small part of the Ramadhan TV shows concerned Islamic teachings and guidance, bit most are polluted by misleading and even satanic," he told Antara here on Wednesday. In the meantime, according to the Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPI), it would file a lawsuit against TV organizers which had been showing pornography and violence. KPI`s vice chairperson Fetty Fajriati made the statement in Jakarta Wednesday after meeting Indonesian Ulemas Council (MUI) chairman Amidhan. Maj. Gen. Simanungkalit said further that promoting transvestites or idiots as main figures in the shows was one of indications of the satanic missions. The lack of Islamic propogation was another indication a satanic mission, he said. "The inclusion of misleading or satanic missions in the TV Ramadhan programs was so perfect that Islamic preachers did not realize that they were acting foolishly like clowns, dressed like an actressesd or transvestites," Simanungkalit said. Presenting a religious topic in a funny way cannot be considered a way of freedom of expression, Simanungkalit added. (Ant/PAB) |
